    Elaine Brockhouse College Tour to Europe Scrapbook - maiden voyages of the American Export Lines SS Independence (departing June 9) and returning SS Constitution (arriving Aug. 3)
    . Third of a group of three European tour scrapbooks (two listed previously) kept by Elaine Brockhouse, 91-year-old niece of William D. Pawley, who initiated the formation of the famous American volunteer group of airmen known as the Flying Tigers who supported China in World War II from an aircraft manufacturing and supply base he organized in India. He was a confidant of Presidents Truman and Eisenhower and U.S. ambassador to Peru and Brazil after World War II.
    The scrapbook is 9 X 12 in. and ship weight will be 5 lbs.
    It covers the third leg of the trip (England, France and Italy as well as the return voyage). It includes photos of the S.S. Independence docked at Naples, shipboard snapshots, a ship newspaper, photo of the ship officers and tour group members; passenger list, menu; many tourism snapshots in various European cities; society page article headlined "Mr. and Mrs. W.D. Pawley to greet daughter and niece who will land in New York from Europe." Also various hotel brochures and menus; a few
    foreign banknotes, Nice beach photos and Theatre de Verdure; group photo at Versailles; Floies Bergere program; Monte Carlo.
