Mar - Oct. 1960 Elaine Brockhouse Scrapbook, Pinecrest FL. One of a series of scrapbooks kept by Elaine Brockhouse, 91-year-old niece of William D. Pawley, who initiated the formation of the famous American volunteer group of airmen known as the Flying Tigers who supported China in World War II from an aircraft manufacturing and supply base he organized in India. He was a confidant of Presidents Truman and Eisenhower and U.S. ambassador to Peru and Brazil after World War II.
The scrapbook is 9 X 12 in. and very thick. Includes a Redland Fruit & Spice Park plant inventory, United Civic Action brochure and honor roll, campaign literature for various Metro Commission candidates, Gold Coast Railway Museum brochure and tickets, Sarasota Kennel Club brochure, University of Miami Ring Theatre production of "Look Back in Anger", governor campaign brochures for segregationist candidate Ferris Bryant (who won) andDoye Carlton Jr, various Jamaica brochures including Pan Am flight New York & Caribbean flight map (that includes Cuba), Plymouth Congregational Church children's day program, letter typed during Hurricane Donna on Royal Caribbean Hotel stationery, Montego Bay pennant, Pan Am in-flight menu for Coral Gables Junior Chamber of Commerce excursion, 1960 Nixon-Lodge campaign brochure and 2 dinner tickets for event at the Fontainebleau Hotel,
