    Description

DOOR HINGE REBUILD KIT WITH ZERK FITTINGS for 1969 & 1970 Ford Mustang & Cougar
Includes (4) steel tubes, (4) oversized hinge pins, (4) zerks with stainless washers, (8) oil impregnated oversized flanged bushings, and detailed instructions.
Original Stock Hinge Design Wears Out Quickly
Old hinges cannot be successfully and satisfactorily rebuilt in most cases.
Original hinges are a poor design with no support for the hinge bushings, so the bushings wear out rapidly.  This causes loose doors, poor fitting windows, latches that do not align properly, and severe rattling of the entire door. (Open your door half-way and pull up on the door handle.  There should be zero play in the hinges.)
Once the bushings wear out, the bushing holes become elongated in the hinge body, making a stock rebuild a waste of time since the new bushings will crack in the elongated holes.  This normally makes the hinge not re-buildable at all, requiring the purchase of a new reproduction hinge.
Even new reproduction hinges are very sloppy with loose tolerances and allow the door to have play in it, causing rattles and poor-fitting windows.
    Redesigned to Last Forever
This is NOT a stock hinge rebuild kit.
The new hinge kit with zerks will rebuild the hinge with very tight tolerances.
1/2" ID machined steel tube is welded to the hinge body to give 100% support to the OD of the new flanged oiled bushings.
Oversized bushings are used, adding strength and longevity to the rebuild.
Oversized hinge pins are drilled from one end to allow grease injection into the hollow tube through the grease zerks.
Hinge pins are welded to the hinge body on one end to keep the pins from turning other than inside the bushing where they should rotate.
    Detailed instructions provided.
REQUIRES DRILLING with 3/8" and 1/2" BIT AND WELDING
HINGES MUST BE REMOVED FROM CAR TO BE REBUILT
THESE WILL LAST FOREVER SINCE ALL THE PROBLEMS ARE CORRECTED AND THEY CAN BE LUBRICATED
