    Description

    Rear Drum Brake
    (w/ front discs)
    Early Wheel Lockup
    Problem Solver
What you need for disc brake swaps!
You get a pair (that's two [2] pieces) of new,
    improved-design
replacement rear wheel cylinders for all muscle-era Mopars (1965-74) equipped with front disc and rear drum brakes
    or
    4-wheel drums. Read on, Vern....
    Why
you need them: Stock Mopar all-drum and disc/drum F/R proportioning was always an "iffy" thing, some cars, notably A and E-bodies, always suffered from early rear wheel lockup (think: spinout!) No type of proportioning valve can cure this on wet or other low-friction road surfaces, because they don't "cut in" until 300-600 PSI line pressure. Add to this mix a big block up front, and/or bigger rear drums (a lot of guys go from 10" to 11"), and the result is a vehicle that wants to swap ends, not a pretty sight. The only fix is reduced rear braking. These special wheel cylinders do that by reduced bore size (13% reduction vs. OEM). The difference in stopping distances can be astounding, and can mean the difference from a "whew, that was close!" vs. "Hey, ma, call the hook, I just stuffed the 'Cuda into a damn Prius...
A quick engineering lesson: The front brakes should always lock first, even though this may seem counter-intuitive! A car with locked fronts can't steer -- but usually slides straight ahead!
    A car with locked rears
    must
    spin!
Sold as a pair (2 pcs.) Fit 10" or 11" rear drum supports ('64-up). Made by original Chrysler/Mopar vendor to OEM Chrysler engineering specs.
